Boracay is a tropical island surrounded by stunning white sand beaches about an hour's flight from Cebu or Manila just off the larger Philippines island of Panay.
For beach connoisseurs it competes with the best beaches of more popular destinations such as the Caribbean and the South Pacific as well as neighbouring Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. For those wanting to just lounge around and top up their tan, beach-front hotels usually have lounge chairs set up just a few steps away from the hotel entrances. The more active will appreciate water sports and activities such as sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling, diving and jet skiing. The fun in Boracay doesn't end when the sun sets. Boracay night-life pulsates with many bars and restaurants serving food, drink and fun until the dawn.

Sombrero Island (named because the island looked like a big hat sticking out of the water) is about 15 minute boat ride from Mabini Batangas. On the surface, this island resembles a hat underwater, so its profile makes the name Sombrero quite appropriate. The rim of the “hat” stretches a long way underwater from north to south. Gorgonians, black coral shells, turtles, rays, grunts, jacks, snappers, and a great variety of soft corals are abundant. Currents are normally strong during the full moon. Diving is fairly shallow on the rim down to about 50 feet in certain area.Uninhabited, this island has a delightful beach which is often used as a picnic spot between dives.
Capones Island (upper picture) is a two-kilometer long island situated four kilometers off the coast of Barangay Pundaquit in San Antonio, Zambales, Zambales. The bone-shaped island is mostly rocky and barren, and is surrounded by white beaches that shift location due to weather and sea current.
Originally named “Isla Gran de Capon” during the Spanish era, Capones Island does not have commercial resorts and facilities. The island is a big rock formation with high cliffs and little soil, and is joined by a sand bar (which disappears during high tide) to two smaller islands called Camara, which are only two kilometers away from the mainland.
Since the surrounding waters of South China Sea are described to be rough, it is advisable to take a boat ride early in the morning when the sea is still calm.
Visitors may opt to camp in a tent along the beaches if there is no typhoon or stay in the small fishing village of Pundaquit where they can hire a boat to get to Capones.
Although the island is not a typical commercial destination, visitors can still enjoy exploring the island's historic and natural wonders, such as: [1]
